THREE Elio Camacho workshops to chose from! (Yamhill, Columbia Gorge & Hillsboro, Oregon)


Here is up-to-date information for popular Elio Camacho's workshops in Oregon this summer. Elio's mentor is highly respected Ovanes Berberien, the Russian painter who studied under Sergei Bongart. 1. June 25, 26 and 27, 2010
Yamhill Lavender Festival Yamhill, Oregon

Elio Camacho will teach a three day workshop held at Wild Rain Farm or Woodland Lavender. The cost is $265. There are only 16 spots available. To secure your place, a deposit of $50 is due with the balance of $215 due by June 1, 2010. Elio workshop will kick off the Yamhill Lavender Festival Plein Air Paint Out. The paint out will begin June 25 and go through July 9, 2010. The cost to participate in the paint out is $25.00. The festival itself will be July 10 and 11, 2010 at Beulah Park in Yamhill. 2. July 5-9, 2010

Five days of plein air painting in the Columbia River Gorge Join Elio Camacho for five days of plein air painting instruction on the Columbia River Gorge. Elio studied under Russian Impressionist Ovanes Berberian and is influenced by master impressionists such as Bongart, Sorrolla, and Fechin. Elio is was named "Artist to Watch" in the July 2009 Issue of Southwest Art. If you want to learn to fill your canvases with color and boldness then this class may be for you. Some of the things we will cover are:
  • Stroke angle and how it affect depth in thick loose strokes
  • Properly holding a brush to ensure you have limitless possibilities with your strokes
  • Brush speed
  • Time management and capturing the moment: The question most often asked is “how do you deal with the changing light”. We will cover efficient ways of painting so you dont waste strokes or motions.
  • Forget formulas and learn to “SEE”: Learning see nature as paint.
  • Color temperature
  • Harmony
  • Each day will end with a group critique

3. July 15 and 16, 2010
Cultural Arts Center Hillsboro, Oregon Join Elio Camacho for this special two day Plein Air workshop preceding the Hillsboro Plein Air Painting Event on July 17th. Painters will join Elio at various Hillsboro locations and brush up on their skills while painting the town. Elio’s colorful approach to painting and his sunny disposition are guaranteed to inspire.
Students will need to bring all their own materials and will be given a map to locate Elio after they check in at the Arts Center the morning of the first day.
7/15 & 7/16 Day: Thursday and Friday Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Fee: $175 Blurb in the front of the catalog: On Saturday, July 17, the Cultural Arts Center will host Hillsboro Plein Air: An Outdoor Painting Event and Competition sponsored by the Hillsboro Arts and Culture Council. This year painters will again enjoy painting the sights of Main Street and Saturday Market. A series of historically themed tableaux vivants will be presented by Associates of Lavender’s Green Historic Clothing, The Ladies’ Tea Guild and the Oregon Regency Society for those painters with an inclination for figurative and narrative art. Artists who want to brush up on their craft may want to take a special Plein Air workshop prior to the event with guest artist Elio Camacho. Camacho hails from the Bay area and makes an annual trip to Oregon to teach his vibrant style and infuse students with positive energy. The Plein Air event costs $25.00
