Oregon Coast Workshop (Brookings) with Elio Camacho September 6-10, 2010

Oregon Coast Workshop Southern Oregon (Brookings) September 6-10, 2010 Putting passion and emotion into a painting is far more important then just making a copy of your subject. Do you want to fill your canvases with color and boldness? Then this class is for you! Elio Camacho's goal as an instructor is to give his students the foundation necessary to express themselves. Here is some of what is covered in this 5 day workshop:
  • Stroke angle and how it affects depth in thick loose strokes
  • Properly holding a brush to ensure you have limitless possibilities with your strokes
  • Brush speed
  • Time management and capturing the moment
  • Dealing with the changing light
  • Managing your time.
  • Forget formulas and learn to “SEE”:
  • Learning to see nature as paint
  • Color temperature
  • Harmony
Tuition is $395.00 for five days 9 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday with a break for lunch. Each class will start with a demonstration, followed by individual instruction at each student’s easel.

The Hood River Painters meet on Tuesdays. Here is a message from Bonnie White:

This week (Tuesday, August 17) the Hood River painters will paint at Good News Gardening, where there is shade, you can show up early or stay late if you want, there is an abundance of subject matter, there are bathrooms, good food, coffee, you don't have to drive far... no excuses! Good News Gardening is 1086 Tucker Road, Hood River.

The paint out at the Portland Women's Forum started out overcast, but sure enough, for those who took their time, the clouds lifted and we had an absolutely beautiful sunset. I'm including a photo I took on location. Hope you can make it (to Good News) this week.
